Happy Halloween pt. 2!

H a p p y   H a l l o w e e n
f e l l o w   O t a k u !!!

Think about our collection of alpaca...

They inspire within us otaku many sentiments beyond normal anime fandom that we cannot simply express here, now. However, the important thing is that they add style to any room. Also, they can be used as excellent pillows for rest and a nap. Lastly, in the otaku world we sometimes understand that you or we all get peeved by other people out there when they annoy us for any reason.

Therefore:
Alpaca in sensual muzzles!

They are just for the anime fan who
is a bit stressed out in the real world...

Anime --> English Style

Japanese animation is well loved all over the world. Most of us, usually think that it is more popular in the country of France than anywhere else in the world. The French are addicted to anime tropes and J-animation and are highly attuned to trends in anime, manga, video games, and otaku culture.

The truth in style is quite different. The way anime culture is centered around introspective, expression, truth, and openness betrays to another European locale, the United Kingdom. Anime in style and them may actually have their basis on English culture, as in based off of British culture. Everywhere you may find in anime and manga themes, allegories, and allusion to more popular ideas or even loanwords, that are rather British than French.

Gundam 00 and XXXholic
Both have references to English tea time in the afternoon. Tea time in the United Kingdom, especially Great Britain is followed and well-liked by all British people.

Rurouni Kenshin and Revolutionary Girl Utena
Sword sport fencing is played seriously and competitively in both. Fencing is similar also to jousting, but the former being played while not piloting a horse.

Ouran Host Club
The main character eventually falls in love with the "prince" of the Ouran Host Club. Though, you would watch the entire short series to figure out what happens in it.

Eden of the East and C: Soul and Possibility Control
There is an obvious allusion to a paper note that kind of possibly looks like it may have the Queen's silhouette on the face of it. So, that is actually a reference to the UK and not any other country (that one being France) that might heart anime also...

There are more general themes, TV tropes, and archetypes NOT specifically mentioned here. We're just trying to give you some food for thought about why people like anime! Keep an open mind and just feel the emotions that the anime represents. It's not a big deal if the French are more vocal about their anime style but the English love anime too! Thanks for reading!

The Anime World of Last Year (2016)

In the anime-otaku world, pocky is a friend just like dogs are a man's best friend. Pets and pocky were made to cheer you up. Just like anime and video games boost pop culture among certain pop lovers.

Like in Pokemon Go, you get a pokemon at first and then go battle for victory. The debut anime had Ash Ketchum as the main character and obsessed with pokemon battling. He seems kind of introverted and shy compared to Pikachu and his friends Misty and Brock. There were other successful platformers that came with an anime such as Kirby and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT). The TMNT show was even more popular than the "Nintendo (r)" game. The turtle heroes were humanoid hero turtles but they battled bad guys and didn't back down from their challenges and hundreds of foes. As much as Ash Ketchum might have had second guesses about his Pokemon training abilities and his Pokemon, he was not much inspiration to my child self... He was always debating in a way to himself about why he couldn't take all of the Pokemon he caught with him on all of his journeys, which would be impossible for someone who second guesses himself. In a way, he's not exactly a friend you could trust that much, what do you think? Actually he may be excellently trustworthy because he sees trust in Pokemon, they are his friends.

"Tiger and Bunny" - When you saw the title you knew there would be an accidental tiger attack on a helpless bunny. Actually the anime is about two guys who fight bad guys on reality TV as actual superheroes. Off camera, they control their powers and build social lives with each other and their families. But Bunny has a number of problems and Tiger is losing power... Together they overcome all of their issues with The Man and bad guys to save Sternbild over and over again.

"Chi's Sweet Home" - There are slow episodes (though they are only five minutes long) about a stray kitten that is lucky to find a home in the 'burbs of a Japanese city. If you and I keep watching the episodes, Chi starts to love her new home.

"Gintama" - Samurai and aliens are among Edo's post Meiji crowds, where Gin-san runs Yorozuya Gin-san with Kagura and Shinpachi! Don't forget there's Sadoharu a kind of dog (is he a Samurai or not?) that Kagura adopted and likes. ...And there might be some interesting perspectives on the growing stray cat population.

"Yu-Gi-Oh" - That's deja-vu for the popular card game, c.a. the Pokemon fad that we love. Yugi and his friends (!!!) are on a quest and they want the strongest (monsters?) to defeat Yugi's nemesis at Yu-Gi-Oh battle! Some of the card monsters, dragons and knights, are so strong that the battle is almost over when they're called out!

"Natsume Yuujinchu" - The book of friends contains the names and bonds of kinship to untold "youkai" who were befriended by Natsume's grandma. He wants to begin his grandma's second legacy of giving freedom or friendship back to them. Along the way he gains companions who are interested in the book of friends and in Natsume.

"Tegami Bachi" - There are letters to deliver and the terrain is hazardous due to large metallic insects. There is a message of a kid named Lag Seeing who delivered to a new family by his Tegami Bachi, Gauche Suede or Noir. Later, Lag Seeing becomes a "letter bee" or "tegami bachi" that delivers the last messages of the people of that place to distant far out-of-the-way remote locations there, along with partner 'Niche' who is his partner. Without an eagle, without a bloodhound, or panther, Lag the tegami bachi needs to deliver every one of those backed letters of messages to become the "Head Bee" the leader of the "Tegami Bachi" HQ. Don't you ever wonder if Lag ever sees a bit of himself in every letter?

"Inuyasha" - Is he a dog, or a human, or a super demon dog? Inuyasha is the type of guy who could obey the "phrase", "down boy" by his girlfriend Kagura. His dad is somehow missing, that and the exorcist priestess Keikiyo is after him. Kagura likes Inuyasha's world and Naraku wants to wreak havoc on Kagura's human world. Can Inuyasha, Kagura and friends stop Naraku before he takes of the human world! Will Naraku ever actually take over the human world that way? Before you answer these questions, remember that Inuyasha was the most successful program on Adult Swim and that it's already pretty awesome!

The Mystery of Characters (like Watanuki, Natsume, and Tyki Mikk)

In anime, some characters have this mystical and magical appeal to the viewer that convey such beautiful mysticism that is missing from the world, at large. What happens in the real world, is that it's day to day progression erodes most human aesthetic endeavor into human weakness. This is not so with anime. Even though the characters might have flaws, they always find a way to either look beautiful or find what's missing in their story, here by mystic abilities. This blog post is going to show some of those characters, the good and the bad.

Watanuki Kimihiro
xxxHolic

Watanuki is training with Yuuko who is a dimensional witch. He cooks and bakes for her. Among all that, he helps with the errands which include looking into customer life problems involving monsters and spirits. Yuuko might accept him if he works hard enough.

Tyki Mikk
D.Gray-man\

Tyki Mikk is one of the foremost antagonists of D.Gray-man and companion/subordinate of the chief antagonist, The Millenium Earl.

Natsume's grandma, the original owner of the "Book of Friends" and master of the spirit, Nyanko.
Natsume-san
Natsume Yuujincho

In Natsume Yuujincho, everything is kind of beautiful and peaceful, kind of like the Japanese ideal of nature. Even with the ghosts of the forest... Natsume's Grandma gave him her "Book of Friends" so he can decide whether they're still friends or moved on...

Nyanko-sensei was surprised when Natsume had a nightmare.

The Otaku Guide to Creative Visualization

Visualization is a way of meditation that uses daydreams and dreams. Making it creative changes everything because that means you can change your own life. The anime, gaming factor is a choice to make, like the red or blue pill or red Mario and green Luigi. Choose the right idea, choose your fate.

An otaku’s got a pretty advantage over the ordinary person because they know and like anime, already. So its already easy to think about a bunch of cool things to do or be in the world. All the more it takes is to take some time to sit and relax or to get out there and be the person that you would really want to be. All of it actually is about taking the chance to be the person that we wish to be in the real world *IRL*.

A lot of the time people from IRL and adults like to poke fun at otaku and gamers, saying that they don’t know what they’re doing in the real world. Sometimes your parents do that, but then a lot of parents come back and say that they wish they liked anime if they had the choice. Think, “JUST HOW ORNERY IS THAT PIKACHU!”

Sometimes many adults mean it though and other times it’s just their harmless fun without any real bad intent. It’s not really logical to tell an otaku that. If I knew all that in February 2010 (6 years back) when I began this blog, I would have put double the work in, if it makes people feel so special to make fun of anime. No, not I wouldn’t have ever done it… Then if I never started it I would have never went to any conventions with Chansu or Deretsun, even to AX where Pierrot is the best expert. So it’s not really any sense for those other people who don’t like anime to criticize US for a little hobby. Maybe they would like to be anime fans too!

Or maybe, I will keep on using creative visualization until Professor Oak gives me a Pikachu of my own!

RPG trivia: Materials and their meanings

RPG trivia

Materials and their meanings

Wood - Usually the first tool of the game. Types of games use wood at first to compare with the advanced material tools that the higher level knights and warriors use. Kind of as if we all started off with a stick or a bokken.

Bronze/Iron - Common tools use these elements and alloy. They won't fare against a strong bad guy or the final boss.

Silver/myrithril - That's what's in treasure chest no. 8888. The myrithril in pleated sheets that almost always has to be brought to the next town, so a new tool can be forged. They're usually found in the deepest forest or a dead end of a dungeon. Always call a party member before setting out to find myrithril, it is a difficult impossible journey.

Mystery Accessories - Same as myrithril but these can be equipped like charms, in good fashion. Think about it, fashion can also be charming and beat the bosses? Well in the alluring world of the RPG... maybe your world in .addition.

2nd Prime Time: Hero --> ULtd.

2 n d   P r i m e   T i m e

H e r o   U n - l i m i t e d!

What's your idea of a hero? Most people think of Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, The Living Flash, Spiderman, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Storm and the list goes on and on. In American culture, these are the best of the best. They fight the bad guys, and win. They "kick ass and take names", as they say in North America. They're the unlimited heroes of comics.

Through communication with aliens, the mangaka in Japan have created a newer kind of hero, a better one. Referring to the early process of creating animation where Looney Toons was the standard cartoon. After that, around the time of Toonami, anime took over in pop culture and the fires of anime are still churning for bad guys to go right into. Though this is just the humble opinion of a random RPG loving otaku. That new hero, that burns baddies slowly is actually, maybe a weaker hero compared to the superheroes of the west, right?

They are the limited heroes. That, or Comic-con doesn't need NYAF to keep their attendance records (or do they?). The limited heroes are the shounen heroes of manga. They come from humble beginnings and are made fun of daily, before they actually become heroes. Even after that, they're always self-conscious about who they're fighting and why...

Short answer:  Because they were made fun of.

Long answer:  Because they are the limited hero which actually means that they're NOT heroes.

That's summed up best by Monkey D. Luffy: "Heroes have to share the meat..."

And began with Goku, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Yusuke Yurameshi. They all don't want to share the meat... Especially Inuyasha (gomenasai) (^^;)

Being that they're not heroes, makes them limited heroes. That's why they don't always have the "great power" that vanquishes all enemies no matter how strong or terrorfying. That's because they're gonna have to fight over dinner, over a hotpot or yakiniku preferably (It's Japan...). They need friends, unlike Superman in his Arctic Fortress of Might where he longs for friends (though that would make anyone very good... or evil).

When they're on their way to the top, they fall down. The stronger ones, get back up only to fall again and again. See they're only as strong as their mangaka (hehe). In explanation, they're always either getting into it with villains or actively seeking villains to make congruent to goodness (kick their butt). We should all know that, especially since most of us are always getting into it. The limited hero is cooler than because they would save you or me, given the choice. And the limited hero would probably get older while doing it, as opposed to being immortal like Superman or Batman.

The question is:
Are you a limited or a unlimited hero?
Are you an Otaku for life?

Delicious Ca-ke pt. 3

This series is dedicated to "Delicious Ca-ke", because in Japan ca-ke is COOL and ROMANTIC! For females and males alike, the Japanese celebrate various offshoots of culture that are dedicated to the good life and a well mannered set of ways to have fun and be humane or human. One of these, is for their people as a ethnicity, to enjoy and place value on cake.

Though they would rather use the derivative loanword which sounds and is pronounced like.
Ca-Ke!

Welcome to
The Otaku Reviewers

This blog, "The Otaku Reviewers", was started in February of 2010 on this very same platform, Blogger. At first, it was a venture into the informational and informal world of comics, anime, video games, and Japanese culture. In other words, just a random blog.

Over time, the founder of the blog credited with the pseudonym "RPGhero" was joined by two fellow bloggers and friends with the names "Chansu" and "Deretsun". Together the three bloggers looked up interesting Japanese culture facts, recommended new anime, talked about their own "otaku" interests, and traveled across the United States to various anime conventions.

There have been off periods when the blog ceased production of content and there have been times when there would be dozens of blog posts per week. The schedule varies depending on the lives of the people behind the alias'. However the pattern is that we always get back into the game with even newer information about Japanese culture, anime, video games, and other nerdy hobbies.

The motto of our blog is:
"A cure for your apathy and an inspiration for your dreams. ...Applies to Otaku, anime fans, J-pop junkies, and the like"

The purpose is to blog about cool stuff related solely to anime and otaku stuff. There's no other reason we're doing this.

If you like our blog, please support us in however small a way that you would like. We appreciate our readers!

Check it out on Amazon!

Read it for free on Wattpad too!!
