Hey everyone! Usually this is RPGHero's department but I felt compelled to make this! >:)

Alright, so let's move onto the post! :D

First we have two very interesting AMVs that I really liked:

Next we have this Otaku Breakdancing video!  The whole story is pretty funny--see for yourself!



Next we have Tarako Tarako Tarako by Kigurumi! This song was released in June 2006 for "Q.P. Corporation's (Kabushikigaishu) spaghetti sauce" (source). This song has set a record for making it to the Top 100 Singles on the Oricon charts with such young performers! (source).



And now to break the record of the youngest performers on the Oricon charts come Kaoru and Tomoki. Together, in a viral song called "Maru Maru Mori Mori" which is the ending song to the very popular Japanese Drama (and by "very" I mean VERY--20% of the Japanese population is said to know it!!!) "Marumo no Okite", they have pushed up to #6 on the Oricon Charts!!!

Look at this quote from Wikipedia: 

"This singles album debuted on the Oricon charts at the 3rd position with sales of around 35 thousand albums a week. This makes the group Kaoru to Tomoki, Tamani Mook ( 薫と友樹、たまにムック Kaoru to Tomoki, tama ni mukku?) the youngest group ever to debut in the TOP10 charts at the average of 6 years old, beating the previous record set by the group Kigurumi ( キグルミ?) for their singles Tarako・Tarako・Tarako ( たらこ・たらこ・たらこ?) in September 2006."

:::Tsundere Spotlight:::

This TSL goes to none other than Anjou Naruko ("Anaru") from AnoHana!

As you've already heard from RPGHero, AnoHana is one of the hi-lights this season, and personally my favorite for Spring 2011!

So without further ado... let's begin the review! =P

Have you ever had a childhood friend that you lost contact with? Do you ever wish to regain that bond that you once had?

Anaru makes her appearance in AnoHana as a caring character who experienced her friends dissipate after a haunting incident in the past. They were a friendly group of six who drastically became five after a girl named Menma had an "accident" and died.


After 10 years everyone seems to have moved on with their lives, separated. No one seems to have remembered both Menma and their friendships.... Until... Until the boy Anaru admires (Jintan, the main character) claims to now be receiving visits from Menma--no, even worse--she's living with him in his house! Bizarre... who would believe it?? But even if something unbelievable comes directly from the person you care about--it makes it that much *points*-->(a bit more) believable.

Inevitably, this begins to catalyze the renewing of Anaru and Jintan's bond... which--to make a long story short--fuels her tsundere-ism and now we rush off to the Tsundere analysis! (=P)

Anaru (voiced by Haruka Tomatsu) has an episodic polarity much like any other tsunderes nowadays...--don't get me wrong--I love all types of tsunderes quite equally... it's just that I feel bad for poor old "Sebastian"... =P

What makes her stand out from other tsunderes is the fact that she's mostly deredere as opposed to being mostly tsuntsun like a certain someone or even what I like to call "neutral".

She seems to be very concerned with her childhood friends and she's also somewhat of a hidden otaku but not as extreme as Kirino. She works at a video game store and that connection + the fact that she has loads of manga at her house, helps her to reconnect with Jintan much more easily.

She seems to abandon her transient friends to try to rebuild the deep and lasting friendship she thought she had with her old childhood friends.

Her progress doesn't go unnoticed, but sometimes she ends up getting a little down. She seems to always be trying to find who she truly is. And easily impacted by what people around her say, she takes things to heart and ends up in a somewhat depressive state. (But have no fear, Jintan is here)... *ahem*...

It seems that all the childhood friends received the death of Menma in their own way... Anaru's way was to try to replace Menma in Jintan's eyes by wearing her clothing style quite often... She knew that Jintan had feelings for Menma and is quite the jealous tsundere over him. And although she tries to hide it, some of her childhood friends can easily see through her. Almost as if she was transparent (like my opening picture! =P).

Anyway... what will happen to Anaru and Jintan's relationship? What about Anaru and the rest of the her friends? Will they ever be able to reunite? Or will they be dragged along in time by their haunting past, refusing to look towards the future? If you're curious to the answer, you'll have to watch AnoHana to find out! =P.

And now, the moment you have all been waiting for... (or at least... I hope you've been somewhat anticipating and/or looking forward to this... u.u...) ...

This TSL goes to Aria from Hidan no Aria!

With the infamous Rie Kugimiya as voice actress (Seiyuu) and Junji Majima (who's also Ryuuji from Toradora!) as voice actor (for the male lead, Kinji), this anime kicks it off this season while hi-lighting Aria as another glorious addition to the tsundere Rie family ^^.

Some background: The anime is about a school for training students to be special agents called Butei. Their classes consist of half-normal-school curriculum and half-CIA-type-training. So basically Aria meets Kinji and, after he goes all 『ありあをまもる』 "I'm protecting you [Aria]" in an action scene she decides that she wants him on her team. She says "Join my party!" which reminded me of an RPG game =P.

So it's a typical boy-meets-girl... or is it? There's a twist with both of the characters that is left very mysterious. What is Kinji's "hysteria mode" that he always tries to keep secret?--and who is Aria searching for and why does she think it's Kinji?

Anyway so It's very interesting and I suggest you give it a try if you like Action + Rie Kugimiya :).

Onto Aria's review! :)

Aria's weapons of choice are two guns and two katanas, making "Aria the Quadra" a very unique addition to the Rie family :)

She most closely resembles Shana from Shakugan no Shana, in both tsundere type and general appearance. (If you don't know who Shana is, she's another Rie tsundere who's tsundere type is polar-by-episode as opposed to a change over time. In other words her tsuntsun and deredere sides are found in every episode instead of slowly turning deredere as the story progresses).

So what will happen as the S Rank Assault-Section, Kanzaki H. Aria, tries to pair up with the E Rank Kinji? Is Kinji truly that unskilled? Or is he hiding something that he wants to forget?--could he be another Kamijou Touma (Toaru Majutsu no Index), or is he another first-season Yuuji (Shakugan no Shana)? You'll have to watch Hidan no Aria (Aria the Scarlet Ammo) to find out! >:)

::: Anime Recs (大５) :::

Hello everyone and welcome to Anime Recommendations (大５ ::: Dai 5 ::: Big 5)!

In this post I will recommend two Half-Season Animes, one Full-Season Anime, and two Movies!

(Occasionally you may you see more of these!)

So without further ado, はみえましょう！ (Let's begin!)

::: Half Season :::

First off is Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica from Winter Season!

What would you do if a familiar walked up to you, said you were pretty much the "chosen one" and offered you a wish. And in exchange of accepting this offer you were also granted magical powers and had to fight against evil for the rest of your lives! Sounds like a great deal, right!? Now you can live like a hero, just like from your favorite manga or anime!

...That's what you might think at first. But becoming a Puella Magi is nothing to be excited about. Cold and dark futures await those who are willing to sacrifice their souls for one wish.

Perhaps this is a test on humanity. What will happen if that one wish is used for someone else's benefit? Will you continue to fight for that one wish for the rest of your life!?

This magical girl anime is not your typical magical girl anime! No--quite far from it actually. This masterpiece by Shaft offers a psychological story about two girls who are offered one wish each at the cost of becoming a Puella Magi.

Will they fall into the trap of despair? Or will they continue to stand idly by as witches devour people before their eyes? Will they continue to live life without any purpose? Or will they choose to protect those who are close to them? What consequences does their choice have?

Cause, and effect. Watch it, and you will find out =P.

My Personal Experience:

As soon as I started watching this I knew it wasn't going to be a normal anime. The production and psychological aspects were very high quality. And with just 10 episodes it has made it to Rank #54 in myanimelist.net for top animes. Sadly, due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Madoka production has been suspended for a while. But the remaining two episodes will come, so don't worry!

(7/20/11 - edit: a while ago the last two episodes came out and now Madoka stands as #18 on MAL.)

This anime is hard to watch all in one go, and I recommend you take breaks after every one or two episodes. It is very heavy and I have come to call it "Dark Key Magic".

If you think you can handle it, I highly recommend Madoka Magica for anyone who likes psychological and unique stories. Madoka Magica is unlike anything I have ever seen. Give it a try ^^.

Secondly we have Fractale from Winter Season!

What would you do in a futuristic age with no war or strife? Would you succumb to the rules of that utopia? Or would you want freedom in that dystopia?

Fractale is a cute anime with a deeper underlying analysis of a dystopic society. The world has become disconnected through the use of doppels and implanted terminals. Brainwashed by the program--is this what peace truly should be like? Shouldn't peace be achieved naturally? What good is it if the peace is forced upon humanity?

If you like sci-fi and adventure, then this anime may be for you! ^^

My Personal Experience:

When I first saw the first episode of this series I thought it wasn't very interesting and had some animation flaws. Then again, how many anime actually start off with good first episodes?

I was right in continuing, because the second episode proved me wrong right away. The anime suddenly got interesting and I was hooked.

Opening:

Note: If you don't know what a fractal is, I suggest you look it up. (Or click here for you lazy people =P). My take on this anime is that just how a fractal seems to be repetitive and infinite, the Fractale system is just as mundane and dystopic, life just goes on with the same outcome. Of course, you're welcome to form your own conclusions--but my point is, this opening is not just for show.

Note2: The ending song for this anime is terrible, beware.

::: Full Season :::

For the full season category I have picked Bakuman to recommend!

Have you ever wanted to draw manga? Or perhaps you've atleast been curious to have manga was made? If so, this is a MUST WATCH!

Bakuman is about two 9th grade students who become a mangaka duo and strive to fulfill their dreams! (Note: I'm trying not to spoil much of the first episode, so bear with me).

This shounen story is great and much more fast paced then you might expect. There is suspense, plot twists, romance, and even comedy in this wonderful series!

Will they fulfill their dreams, or will they trip on the obstacles before them? You'll have to watch Bakuman to find out!

My Personal Experience:

From the very first episode I could tell that this was a good anime. Extremely unique and surprisingly exciting, this anime is one that keeps you on the edge of your seat, waiting for more.

I highly recommend this to any anime or manga fan out there. You won't be disappointed ^^.

::: Movies :::

The first movie I'm recommending is Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time)!

What would you do with the power to leap through time? Would you use it for your own benefit, or would you use it to change the world?

This cute movie is about a girl who discovers a way to literally "leap" back in time (see picture =P).

As she uses her powers for her own benefit she soon learns that the past and future are dangerous forces to be reckoned with. As she discovers the complexity of time she soon realizes that she has to rely on her newfounded powers to help shape the futures of her and her friends.

Will she forever doom her and her friends' futures by messing with the past? Or will she be able to fix her mistakes? You'll have to watch it to find out! ^^

The second movie I'm recommending is Uchuu Show e Youkoso (Welcome to the Space Show)!

Chansu had recommended it to me and I absolutely loved it! It's an extremely cute sci-fi adventure about 5 kids in a rural mountain village who go to summer camp, meet and save an alien from death, and use up the wish the alien gave them in return to "go on a field trip as far away from here as possible." Little did they know that the alien would take them all the way up to space!

What kind of adventures will they encounter in the vast expanse of what some may call "dark matter"? Will they ever return to earth? You'll have to watch Uchuu Show e Youkoso to find out! >:)

And with that I finally come to the conclusion of my first (大５) Anime Recommendations post!

:::Tsundere Spotlight:::

Hey everyone! This TSL goes to none other than Victorique from Gosick!

I'm sure you're all aware of--wait what, you're not? Have you not heard of the simply awesome moe-filled mystery anime called Gosick? Well then! It's time for some background then, isn't it? ^^

K: じゃあー　はじめましょうか。
R: Jaa~ hajimemashouka?
E: Well then, shall we begin?

"The year is 1924" and our main character, Kazuya Kujo from Japan, appears in Sauville, "a small European country neatly tucked beside the Alps" for a study abroad program. Eventually he meets our second main character, "the mysterious Victorique" (ふしぎなヴィクトリカ / fushigi na Vikutorika), at the top of a very tall library tower.

The library is probably the tallest one you'll ever see in anime.

And did I mention there was a garden on top?

Plagued by boredom and forbidden to leave the tower without permission, Victorique gets really excited to see Kujo and makes him an object of her amusement right away: "You were chosen... As a single fragment with which to fill up my boredom." She makes him dance, bring her candy and more importantly, tell her of the mysteries and exciting things of the world which she cannot see.

Victorique is a genius hidden among the books of the tower. Very few know of her or her ability to solve crimes so simply by "reconstructing the chaos" in her mind. What adventures and mysteries of the European world will we see in this anime? How far will Kujo go for his new-founded friendship with this kawaii tsundere? Will the mysteries never end? You'll have to watch Gosick to find out! =P

Since you now know the background of Victorique, let's move onward to the Tsundere analysis! ^^. "Massugu, GO!" (Manabi Reference).

Victorique's voice (ヴィクトリカのこえ / Vikutorika no koe), which is very cute, is done by none other than Aoi Yuuki (who also voices Mio from Kaminomi)!

Her character design is extremely moe (とてももえ / totemo moe) mainly due to the flexibility of unique European style + Japanese/tsundere personality.

"So what tsundere type is she??" She's my favorite type of tsundere: she has a shy and sensitive tsuntsun side and a moe deredere side. Her polarity is evident in every episode as opposed to a complete change over time, but as the story progresses so does her tsundere personality.

So if you have time, don't forget to check out Victorique from Gosick! If you don't have time--MAKE SOME! =P
