RPG trivia: Materials and their meanings

RPG trivia

Materials and their meanings

Wood - Usually the first tool of the game. Types of games use wood at first to compare with the advanced material tools that the higher level knights and warriors use. Kind of as if we all started off with a stick or a bokken.

Bronze/Iron - Common tools use these elements and alloy. They won't fare against a strong bad guy or the final boss.

Silver/myrithril - That's what's in treasure chest no. 8888. The myrithril in pleated sheets that almost always has to be brought to the next town, so a new tool can be forged. They're usually found in the deepest forest or a dead end of a dungeon. Always call a party member before setting out to find myrithril, it is a difficult impossible journey.

Mystery Accessories - Same as myrithril but these can be equipped like charms, in good fashion. Think about it, fashion can also be charming and beat the bosses? Well in the alluring world of the RPG... maybe your world in .addition.

No New Sword Art Online III Anime?!

Don't kill me for false advertising just yet. Hey wait, look where Yui is? Yeah. That's right.

Okay, so it's not written in stone that there won't be a Sword Art Online III anime, but there has been no news on the topic. To be more specific, there was a certain Sword Art Online Sing All Overtures concert at the Yokohama National Convention Hall, and along with it there was NO NEWS for a new SAO anime adaptation, or anything of that sort!!

For those of you that don't know much about the anime world, Sword Art Online is a story series about a boy named Kirigaya Kazuto who goes by the username Kirito, and his adventures in various VRMMORPGs. The most famous of which is chronicled in the first SAO anime adaptation, where he and other hardcore gamers are trapped in a virtual reality gaming headset working to clear the game and battle for survival, because death in-game meant death in real life.

Sinon, the main female protagonist of Phantom Bullet. And the cast of SAO all together!

Sword Art Online became one of the most popular anime of 2012 when it released due to its perfect blend of high-adrenaline action, high fantasy and high tech fusion, survival game aspects, and combination of harem and drama story elements. Go to any Top 10 anime list. You are bound to see Sword Art Online among its ranks.

Asuna, Kirito's love interest, flies the skies of Elfheim with her rival in love, Leafa, who happens to be Kirito's cousin. Got it?

But then, why no SAO III? It may be because the story-lines of future light novels (from which the actual story content originates) does not hold such a high-stakes survival aspect as the original Aincrad story arc. Hey, I might be wrong. The fans really love SAO, and SAO II the adaptation of Phantom Bullet, Calibur, and Mother's Rosario (which are relatively more light hearted, but still high-stakes, exciting stories). Maybe with enough cult fan backlash, we may hear news of SAO III yet?

Cross your fingers, loyal otaku!! We know Asuna and Kirito are!

All Aboard the Kingdom Hearts Hype Train!!

The Door To Light opens for fans of the Kingdom Hearts series!

How many years has it been since an official, honest to goodness sequel of Kingdom Hearts? I can answer that.... 10 years. Ten years. We've had Chain of Memories, coded, 358/2 Days, Birth By Sleep, (re)coded, Dream Drop Distance, and TWO Remixes. Everyone's yearning for that "Three". Well now you can hear the news for yourself!

Along with that, game developers have hinted at newer Disney arrivals (Marvel, Star Wars) to appear in Kingdom Hearts 3. I know what you guys are thinking...

Some Toy Story 3 or Frozen love for Kingdom Hearts? We shall see if that's in the works or not. What we do know is Square is pulling out all the stops to make Kingdom Hearts 3 an amazing experience. They have crafted their own in-house Luminous Engine for game development and are using the Unreal Engine... interestingly enough. This may not be a bad thing, as KH3 will sport cool battle abilities such as Keyblade Transformations and Attraction Flow, a cool way to traverse the battlefield and fight a more dynamic battle.

If you haven't been keeping up with the story of Kingdom Hearts (I mean who has? It's the most convoluted plot of all video game history) KH3 will be picking up right after the events in Dream Drop Distance, so check that game out before the new story begins!

Croixleur - An Arcade Game Review

Croixleur is an indie game developed by souvenir circ. It's an arcade game that boasts a lot of hacking and slashing. And if you play it on Normal mode or Hard mode, you bet your *** there's a lot of hacking and slashing. In other words it's challenging and kind of addicting.

A lot of the games published by NYU Media begin with a VERY wordy story, and this one is no different. Without voice actors, it seems like a lot of reading. But if you remember those old nostalgic games of the past, most of the dialogue was a ton of reading.

Every time you lose the game you'll have to start over at the very beginning. There's no saving.

However, if you gain new swords over the course of the game you can use them next time you have to start over. Actually one of the main perks is getting new swords and stuff.

The story follows our red-haired heroine Lucrezia and her rival, Fran. They kind of have a love-hate relationship.

There might also be some kind of sexual tension between them. However, I don't think you'll see any good stuff. But there's definitely moe between them ;)

Well I tried my best to film my impressions of this promising indie game. You can see the a lot of the gameplay in this video. Overall, if you get addicted to games easily you'll get addicted to this one. I was playing it on Normal mode which is very challenging. I'd say that easy mode is way too easy and hard mode is way too hard.

I bet you can't make it this far....

Or this far....

This game only costs $4.99 to download and have all to yourself. It's pretty good if you're bored and you have a lot of pent up anger. It can be beaten pretty quickly though.

Welcome to
The Otaku Reviewers

This blog, "The Otaku Reviewers", was started in February of 2010 on this very same platform, Blogger. At first, it was a venture into the informational and informal world of comics, anime, video games, and Japanese culture. In other words, just a random blog.

Over time, the founder of the blog credited with the pseudonym "RPGhero" was joined by two fellow bloggers and friends with the names "Chansu" and "Deretsun". Together the three bloggers looked up interesting Japanese culture facts, recommended new anime, talked about their own "otaku" interests, and traveled across the United States to various anime conventions.

There have been off periods when the blog ceased production of content and there have been times when there would be dozens of blog posts per week. The schedule varies depending on the lives of the people behind the alias'. However the pattern is that we always get back into the game with even newer information about Japanese culture, anime, video games, and other nerdy hobbies.

The motto of our blog is:
"A cure for your apathy and an inspiration for your dreams. ...Applies to Otaku, anime fans, J-pop junkies, and the like"

The purpose is to blog about cool stuff related solely to anime and otaku stuff. There's no other reason we're doing this.

If you like our blog, please support us in however small a way that you would like. We appreciate our readers!

Check it out on Amazon!

Read it for free on Wattpad too!!
