Top 3 Anticipated (AND CONFIRMED) Sequels of All Time!

Welcome back, fellow Otaku! Have you ever finished a series, with a non-canon ending that diverges from the manga, or ending on the 20th chapter of what will seem to be 100s of volumes, and felt the sheer sadness of losing your weekly source of enjoyment? We feel your pain, so we grabbed the top 3 most anticipated sequels of all time to satiate your hunger pangs for anime goodness! Let's look toward the future, together!

Without further ado, here they are!

1. Blue Exorcist (SEASON TWO!)
Release Date: Estimated Summer 2017

The new Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist)sequel (Kyoto Impure King Arc) will focus on the two brothers Rin and Yukio Okamura as they battles the spawn of Gehenna and Satan himself to keep the human world (Assiah) safe. Their goal this time? To keep the Impure King from being revived!

I am not the only one who is glad that Blue Exorcist is getting back to the manga plot. With the success of the story line, driven by shounen action and family bonds similar to Full Metal Alchemist, it is a no-brainer to bring the exorcist crew back to our TVs. Expect to see this demon-slaying series back sometime in 2017~!

2. My Hero Academia (SEASON TWO!)
Release Date: TBD

Who has not fallen in love with My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) earlier this year? If not, then you've missed the story of Izuku Midoriya and his foray into the world of Heores! He lives in a world where a large percent of the population is born with a "Quirk" which is basically a super power that evolves as kids age. Poor Izuku, who wished to be a hero more than anyone else, was not born with a "Quirk" and was devastated, until he was given a chance to reach Heroic levels and impress the greatest hero of all time, "All Might"

Season two was confirmed shortly after the series ended, and was met with overwhelming joy by fans of the series! While there is no news of the actual release date or season, we should keep our fingers crossed that it will be back sometime in 2017! PLUS ULTRA!

3. Attack on Titan (SEASON TWO!)
Release Date: Spring 2017

Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die Jäger!

Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) has taken the world by storm as a household name among anime fans, and even those who would normally watch anime have gotten a glimpse of the show. Everyone knows the premise - a world where freakish-looking giants who feed on human flesh have driven humanity  to hide behind giant walls for safety (*Trump approved!*). Eren Jaeger, a teen and resident of this world, has sworn to kill every last titan on earth to avenge his losses. But things soon get complicated as Eren himself is wrapped up in a plot much large than most titans...

Without spoiling much for those who have somehow survived this long without watching the show, Season 2 will kick off where they last left off, jumping into the voluminous manga chapters that have been coming nonstop since the anime finished back in 2013. Will humans finally gain salvation over their situation, or will the largest threat of the Colossal Titan bring us to our demise?! We can only find out in Spring 2017! (or reading the manga)

No New Sword Art Online III Anime?!

Don't kill me for false advertising just yet. Hey wait, look where Yui is? Yeah. That's right.

Okay, so it's not written in stone that there won't be a Sword Art Online III anime, but there has been no news on the topic. To be more specific, there was a certain Sword Art Online Sing All Overtures concert at the Yokohama National Convention Hall, and along with it there was NO NEWS for a new SAO anime adaptation, or anything of that sort!!

For those of you that don't know much about the anime world, Sword Art Online is a story series about a boy named Kirigaya Kazuto who goes by the username Kirito, and his adventures in various VRMMORPGs. The most famous of which is chronicled in the first SAO anime adaptation, where he and other hardcore gamers are trapped in a virtual reality gaming headset working to clear the game and battle for survival, because death in-game meant death in real life

Sinon, the main female protagonist of Phantom Bullet. And the cast of SAO all together!

Sword Art Online became one of the most popular anime of 2012 when it released due to its perfect blend of high-adrenaline action, high fantasy and high tech fusion, survival game aspects, and combination of harem and drama story elements. Go to any Top 10 anime list. You are bound to see Sword Art Online among its ranks.

Asuna, Kirito's love interest, flies the skies of Elfheim with her rival in love, Leafa, who happens to be Kirito's cousin. Got it?

But then, why no SAO III? It may be because the story-lines of future light novels (from which the actual story content originates) does not hold such a high-stakes survival aspect as the original Aincrad story arc. Hey, I might be wrong. The fans really love SAO, and SAO II the adaptation of Phantom Bullet, Calibur, and Mother's Rosario (which are relatively more light hearted, but still high-stakes, exciting stories). Maybe with enough cult fan backlash, we may hear news of SAO III yet?

Cross your fingers, loyal otaku!! We know Asuna and Kirito are!

All Aboard the Kingdom Hearts Hype Train!!

The Door To Light opens for fans of the Kingdom Hearts series!

How many years has it been since an official, honest to goodness sequel of Kingdom Hearts? I can answer that.... 10 years. Ten years. We've had Chain of Memories, coded, 358/2 Days, Birth By Sleep, (re)coded, Dream Drop Distance, and TWO Remixes. Everyone's yearning for that "Three". Well now you can hear the news for yourself!

Along with that, game developers have hinted at newer Disney arrivals (Marvel, Star Wars) to appear in Kingdom Hearts 3. I know what you guys are thinking...

Some Toy Story 3 or Frozen love for Kingdom Hearts? We shall see if that's in the works or not. What we do know is Square is pulling out all the stops to make Kingdom Hearts 3 an amazing experience. They have crafted their own in-house Luminous Engine for game development and are using the Unreal Engine... interestingly enough. This may not be a bad thing, as KH3 will sport cool battle abilities such as Keyblade Transformations and Attraction Flow, a cool way to traverse the battlefield and fight a more dynamic battle.

If you haven't been keeping up with the story of Kingdom Hearts (I mean who has? It's the most convoluted plot of all video game history) KH3 will be picking up right after the events in Dream Drop Distance, so check that game out before the new story begins!

Manga Review: GTO Shonan 14 Days (Volume 1)

Manga Review:
GTO Shonan 14 Days

In this volume of the sequel to the Great Teacher Onizuka series, Onizuka takes a new job as a Group Home Counselor (O.O)

This manga starts off where the end of the GTO anime series leaves off. Onizuka has reconciled with his homeroom class and getting ready to start summer vacation.

Now Onizuka is going on summer vacation and he's trying to find a gig for the summer!

But not before playing some pranks on the Headmaster!

Onizuka tries out a few different things (you'll have to read to find out) before finding his calling for summer vacation.

... Then he happens to meet Fuyutsuki's good friend, Ayame Shiratori, on the train. Do you think he has second thoughts about Fuyutsuki when he starts to hit on her girlfriend???

Eventually she offers him a job at a teen group home that she runs with another woman. Onizuka politely... accepts. But not before fantasizing about his future!

Onizuka has no idea that the kids that live at the group home are just as bad, if not worse, than his kids back at the school. He promises to change them for the better and in turn one of them promises to teach Onizuka a permanent lesson in choosing promises. One of the young women at the group home vows to chase Onizuka out before he can help anyone.

This manga was really good. It's a good one to read if you're bored or you're stuck inside on a rainy day. It did seem like it had less jokes and more violence than usual GTO. There are some fanservice shots also. This volume is plot driven and a good addition for any fan of the Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) series.

Welcome to
The Otaku Reviewers

This blog, "The Otaku Reviewers", was started in February of 2010 on this very same platform, Blogger. At first, it was a venture into the informational and informal world of comics, anime, video games, and Japanese culture. In other words, just a random blog.

Over time, the founder of the blog credited with the pseudonym "RPGhero" was joined by two fellow bloggers and friends with the names "Chansu" and "Deretsun". Together the three bloggers looked up interesting Japanese culture facts, recommended new anime, talked about their own "otaku" interests, and traveled across the United States to various anime conventions.

There have been off periods when the blog ceased production of content and there have been times when there would be dozens of blog posts per week. The schedule varies depending on the lives of the people behind the alias'. However the pattern is that we always get back into the game with even newer information about Japanese culture, anime, video games, and other nerdy hobbies.

The motto of our blog is:
"A cure for your apathy and an inspiration for your dreams. ...Applies to Otaku, anime fans, J-pop junkies, and the like"

The purpose is to blog about cool stuff related solely to anime and otaku stuff. There's no other reason we're doing this.

If you like our blog, please support us in however small a way that you would like. We appreciate our readers!

Check it out on Amazon!
