Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic screening (Dubbed)

When Funimation announced special screenings of Book of the Atlantic, a Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) movie, I wasn't interested at first. A few weeks before the screening, I figured why not?

We got tickets to see the dub as it was showing on my usual day off and got to the theater early so we could get good seats. There were cosplayers and fans of all ages, though most seemed to be teenage girls.

The movie itself was pretty good. Undertaker has a pretty big role in it which is awesome as he's my favorite character, plus his face is shown a lot. Best scene by far is Grell and new reaper Ronald re-enact that one scene from Titanic. To be honest, this is pretty much what the movie is...
Black Butler + Titanic + Zombies = Book of the Atlantic.
Only thing I wish I had done before watching this movie was to watch Book of Circus as there's a character or three from that arc.

I think the most surprising part about it was Lizzy. I always thought she was annoying and couldn't do anything for herself, but her true character was revealed. She isn't as helpless as she lets on in the first season and ends up being a one of the best fighters in the whole series.

*heart eyes*
I didn't really think anything of it before the movie, but...if their was any type of fanservice scenes or something slightly funny, the auditorium would be full of screams that only fangirls (and boys) could make. I'm pretty sure the people walking down the theater hall and in the auditoriums next door thought the viewers were either really scared or being killed. Unfortunately, due to the screams, we missed a good third of the movie's dialogue.

The audience for Book of the Atlantic seemed more immature than the crowds who showed up for the Evangelion 3.0 movie, Yu-Gi-Oh Dark Side of Dimensions and DBZ Resurrection F showings COMBINED.

It's okay to be a fangirl/boy, but when going to screenings like these, please be considerate of the movies showing next door and to the chaperones who have no idea what they are getting themselves into. It's alright to scream, but not so loud or long that the person 10 rows behind can't hear anything for the next 3 minutes.

I'd rewatch Book of the Atlantic, but in a quieter setting...and to see Undertaker's and Lizzy's amazing scenes again.

OMG HIS FACE! HE ACTUALLY HAS ONE!

Ghost in the Shell (2017) Movie Review

Despite all the negativity around Ghost in the Shell movie released this year, I still went to see it. To be honest, I don't agree with all the "Whitewashing" posts everyone has been chanting about the movie. That being said, I will say some parts of the movie were a bit disappointing, but Scarlett Johansson isn't much of the reason.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD - - - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

1: Takeshi "Beat" Kitano: When I found out he was going to be in the movie, I was really happy! Unfortunately, I thought he was going to be Batou, not Chief Aramaki. I was also a bit disappointed when I saw all his lines were in Japanese ONLY...he didn't speak in English once, even though everyone else did. Other than that, he was great as always.

2: Music: They should have tried to at least get the rights to some of the original music or had Yoko Kanno (original musical mastermind of the originals) compose for the film. I just think that would be pretty cool. ^^;

3: Major's Expressions: When I watched her, she seemed to be too human for a machine. I wasn't the only one who noticed this as I've seen other reviews that made this observation as well.

I really enjoyed it and the visuals from Weta Workshop. They did an amazing job with everything they created. I'd say their work is worth watching the movie for, even if you don't like the casting choices.

Store Review : DAISO (Little Tokyo District, Los Angeles)

I've heard of Daiso from friends and all the cool things they bought there. I was a little jealous they got to have a nice and affordable place to buy stuff from Japan at, to be honest. I decided the next time I went to California, I was going to Daiso. Well, earlier this year, I had to make an emergency visit to my mom in Cali. Near the end of my first visit, I got my chance to go to Daiso before flying back to Oklahoma for a couple weeks.

First of all, it is pretty awesome in the shop! It's very bright and the cool thing is that everything is $1.50 unless the tag says something else. I saw so much stuff I wanted, but since I only had a limited amount of space keft in my suitcases, I just got a few things. Unfortunately, I couldn't take pictures inside or else there would be a good amount of them here. They have nearly everything here...Dishes, pillows, snacks, cleaning and gardening supplies and even makeup!  Definitely check out a Daiso if you haven't yet.

Items I bought:
Reusable Shopping Bag

Fuujin & Raijin Folding Fan

Black Cat Neck Pillow

Restaurant Review : Shoyu Sushi

While I was back home in California, I went to a new Japanese restaurant called Shoyu Sushi that was opening up around the corner from where I used to live. They hadn't had their Grand Opening yet, but I thought it'd be good to try out since it was close and has 5-star reviews on Yelp.

Upon walking in, we were greeted with a loud "Irrashaimase!" (common greeting at Japanese shops and restaurants) and then seated. It was actually a bit dark inside, but relaxing. While we waited for the rest of our group to arrive, we ordered drinks. While we waited, the owner came by to talk with us. As it turned out, she was from Hawaii. When she found out my cousin was also from there, she gave us a round of grapefruit Soju on the house. It was good, though I didn't drink my whole cup since I'm not very big on alcohol. ^^;

Fast forward to the food...I ordered Katsu Dinner. I think everyone else ordered bento with different options. I don't remember what they all had, but everything was delicious. We were all pretty hungry, so we didn't really get pictures of our meals. Oops again! ^^;;

We had a really fun time there and plan to go back on the next CA trip. If you're in Central California or within a reasonable distance, check it out at 3605 Mt Vernon Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93306.

Horror Movies from Japan - Pt. 2

Hello! I'm back this week with my thoughts on Corpse Party and As the Gods Will. First up, is Corpse Party!

It started out pretty dark as the lights were off in the haunted/abandoned school, but came back with some color. It really didn't seem so bad til I saw one of the evil beings murder someone...then I was scared and covering my eyes. Remember, I'm a scaredy cat that has to watch horror movies with the lights on. ^^;

Anyway, It was pretty close to the video game for the most part except that some characters were either replaced or missing from the script which I felt took away from the story. I also will NEVER EVER play Sachiko Ever After. Why? Because I don't want to risk being murdered by a vengeful spirit.

One thing that I thought was weird was of the five spirits of Tenjin Elementary, one was more of a zombie than ghost. That made the movie 1000% more scary for me. ^^;

There's a post-credit scene, so watch to the end if you plan on seeing this. Japanese level of this movie is pretty advanced, so if you have been out of practice or a beginner, subtitles are your friend.

If you love seeing guts and brains all over the place, this movie is right up your alley. You can watch the game play-through which is what I prefer over the movie.

For my second movie this week, I watched As the Gods Will, based on the manga of the same name, or Kami-sama no Iu Toori (神さまの言うとおり).

It jumped straight into the action with the heads of high school students exploding in a "game" called Daruma ga Koronda. It seems to be played like Red Light, Green Light except if you're caught moving, off with your head. This is just the opening, too. Aside from Daruma-san, Maneki Neko and some Kokeshi show up to "play" with the students as well.

I haven't read the manga yet, so I'm lost as to who one of the characters was. There were also quite a few flashbacks that cleared things up, but some things were still confusing. This was pretty awesome, but if I were in the same situation as the main characters, I'm sure I would have died. If you play these games without the death, they could actually be pretty fun.

The Japanese level in this movie is also advanced, so you'll need the subs if you aren't on that level. There's lots of blood and a psycho in this movie, but not as much guts as Corpse Party. I actually was able to watch this without hiding, though Daruma-san is pretty creepy.

Another Appsession...LIne Webtoon

Hello! I’m finally free from work (for today) so I figured to let everyone know I haven’t been kidnapped by ninjas. ^^;

The past month, I’ve actually been trying out a bunch of things which is also what kept me distracted and away from posting. One of which is an app called Line Webtoon. It’s got so many comics to choose from, so you’re pretty much guaranteed to find one that will capture your interest.

I didn’t want to get the app at first since I thought they only had romance comics, but boredom got the best of me. I downloaded Webtoon onto my phone and started reading a comic called Nightmare Factory by SnaiLords. It’s pretty interesting so far and there’s updates every week which is awesome. I’d share what it’s about, but I think that’s something you should read for yourselves. It’s that awesome.

The only thing I don’t like about the app is that it’s not on the Kindle Fire, but at least the website works on it. ^.^;;

Curious? Here's some recommendations:
Nightmare Factory by SnaiLords
Siren’s Lament by instantmiso
Noblesse by Jeho Son / Kwangsu Lee
UnderPrin by smbryms
Ecstacy Hearts by SilentMaru
Catharsis by Ahniki

Pierrot's Blade & Soul Experience Pt. 5 : Bamboo Betrayal

Hello! I’m back with part five of my Blade and Soul adventures. This week, I’m covering chapters 20 through 27 which is the end of the Viridian Coast for now. I’ve never said this in the last ones, but if you don’t like spoilers and are not yet at this point, you might want to read this a little later.  If you're curious, it wouldn't hurt to read a little. I most likely left out a bit since I wrote this from memory. I played through Chapter 20 before I wrote the last post, but decided to wait for the next one since I thought it wouldn’t be as long. My mistake. ^^;

Anyway, chapter 20 had me going to Songshu Isle by dragon pulse. When I got there, I found a journal that belonged to someone named Han Daesu. I figured he would be at the Songshu Pavilion and headed there. On my way, there were Dusk Adders all over the place. I was able to avoid them easily, but got spotted by a creature called Sawtooth Bulbari. That thing is cute, but will tear you up if you’re not prepared. On top of that, they can poison you if you’re not careful. Well, that little bulbari happened to chase me into the Roadside Camp. I searched there to look for the Han Daesu guy, but he wasn’t anywhere to be found. I headed up to the pavilion to meet with Buyong who told me that she thinks there’s a spy in the Bamboo Guard, but since Bumbak lost his bag, it was best for me to look in the Dusk Adders’ Nest to find it. It’s pretty much a  jump off the side of the pavilion to land right in front of it. When I got inside, I found Chengun who said he was following Dodan, but Dodan got captured...again. I just had to walk down some tunnel to find where he was being held and defeat the guards. Surprisingly, they were easy to defeat. I released Dodan from his cage, but the next thing I knew, I had to escort him and Chengun to fight more Dusk Adders, including one of the leaders. Again, it wasn’t very difficult and the leader ended up not being her at all. After that, Dodan and Chengun left me. I ran out since there wasn’t much reason to stick around and decided to go around the corner to head back up to the pavilion only to discover the totems around Songshu Isle are possessed and will attack if you get to close.  It was more scary than that Bulbari chasing me since it just popped out the ground. >.>;

I made it back to the Pavilion successfully and gave Buyong the bag. By now, she really suspects Bumbak for being a spy, which I do as well. She told me to go find Sung Jinha at the Stillbrook Monastery which was not too difficult to get to if you’re able to avoid the enemies. When I get there and find Jinha, He told me about a child monk named Dondon who used to be friendly, but had become quiet and recently. When I went up to the kid, he asked me to defeat Woomah of the Blackram and bring him the bandana. I figured it would be easy enough, but since I’m terrible at sneaking, I ended up having 3 enemies plus Woomah attacking me and, unfortunately, killing me. I tried again and this time hid in the bushes until he reappeared from the last person that defeated him. I managed to defeat him and ran out of that area as fast as possible to return to Dondon. When I gave him the bandana, he was impressed, but not enough it seemed. He asked me to get him mushrooms from the Claypaw Kennels, which I figured wouldn’t be so bad because it might have puppies. I don’t know why I thought there would be puppies in an area full of monsters and enemies, but I was wrong. Instead, they’re weird-looking dog creatures that make pottery. I didn’t really encounter them much since I was just collecting mushrooms and getting info from the kid. When I gave him his mushrooms, he told me Bumbak was the spy. I told Jinha who sent me to find Bumbak. Before leaving the monastery, I talked to a guy named Orpun who told me about something called a Dragon Coil. They’re in certain areas so I can go to one, fill up my heart thingy so in case I die, I can be brought back without having to start at the beginning until my hearts run out. It usually only gives one from what I’ve seen so far, but that’s enough I think.

I headed down to the Yutay Lair to find Bumbak and ran into some of the Yutay which are fish-like creatures. I defeated a few and went into a small area to find Bumbak. He was posing as Dochun to impress the two women with him. I charged in and scared the women off and beat him up, only for him to surrender. He told me the Blackram leader Gwon was after Dochun’s daughter Namsoyoo and ran away. I didn’t want to let him go, but the game wouldn’t let me kill him for story reasons. I went back to the Monastery to find Dochun who told me Namsoyoo has been kidnapped. I headed to the Outpost and was told to take the Blackram messages off their carrier crow. Thankfully, I was able to do that without a problem since I had a Blackram uniform and pretty much just walked right up and took it. I had to change into something else when I got close to the bamboo guards so they wouldn’t hurt me and gave the letter to Somunbu. He asked me to find Bojimu and bug him about some swords the guard had commissioned, so I went around and glided off the cliff to find him. He told me to get some Stonebiter hides which was easier said than done. I wasted all my dumplings fighting those things! I returned to Bojimu who told me to talk to Somunbu because he heard yelling from the outpost. I went to investigate and found out Dodan was trying to be the hero once again and went to rescue Namsoyoo. I rand a little ways past the guards and changed into my Blackram uniform again so it wouldn’t be too difficult to make it past all the pirates along the way. I reached a Dragon Pulse and rode it to the Blackram hideout. It was pretty easy getting around the Bamboo guards that were already there, so I started to look for Chengun. I got lost for like 15 minutes trying to find him only to realize he’s hidden behind crates. That should have been obvious, but I really didn’t know. -__-;;

He told me Namsoyoo was inside the big ship with Wungsam, so I went to rescue her. When I got in, she and Wungsam were flirting with each other. She noticed me and then ran up and said Wungsam tried to do stuff to her, so I attacked and beat him up. Namsoyoo told me not to tell anyone what happened since people would spread rumors about her and it would hurt Dochun. She saw something/Someone appear who turned out to be one of Jinsoyun’s followers. I probably could have fought her, but I ran out since I didn’t want to die. I went to find Chengun again asked if he saw her go by. He said no and Namsoyoo ran out. He noticed she dropped a letter and gave it to me to return to her.

I windstrided back to Bamboo Village and went to find Namsoyoo at the Healing House. I found her talking to the Mayor saying she would never marry an old guy and he said that he made deals with the Blackram so he could be with her. She noticed I was there and ran off. The mayor got scared and yelled at me, but noticed Namsoyoo’s letter. He told me to give it to him, but I refused. He said the alarms were going off, signaling the Blackram were going to attack. Really, I couldn’t hear anything, but the cutscene was pretty scary. Everything was on fire and there were pirates everywhere. I met with Janghun who asked me to destroy the cannons and kill any pirates who tried to stop me. Cannons were easy, but the pirates weren’t. The one I went after was so close to two or three others, so they noticed me right away. Didn’t help that I was wearing the bamboo guard uniform, so I was almost killed. There were other guards nearby, so they helped me out.

I went to find Janghun after I did what he asked and he said to go protect the villagers. I ran to the Inn where he said some would be and found a lady named Yongsook. She told me some pirates took her baby into the basement and that her husband went in to rescue it. I ran in, killed the pirates and took the baby back to its mom. She was thankful, but asked why her husband wasn’t coming out. He had died protecting the baby. I left her and ran into Chengun who told me to help Dodan who was fighting the Blackram leader Gwon at Dochun’s house. By the time i got there, Dodan’s injured and Dochun’s worried about finding Namsoyoo and taking down Gwon. I gave him the letter Namsoyoo dropped and went to find her. The cutscene showed that she went to the lighthouse with the mayor and ran into Gwon. He slashed the mayor with his sword and then she then pushes the mayor off the cliff and runs into Gwon’s arms. Turns out Namsoyoo and Gwon are together, which was semi-expected. She saw me and told Gwon to kill me. Since i couldn’t get out of that fight, I tried my best. It wasn’t exactly fair, though. I only had about 50% of my life left and he killed me so fast. I tried again and almost lost, but managed to get him first.  Namsoyoo was not very happy and probably thought she was going to die, but her boyfriend had an escape plan. Bumbak was there on a little boat with a giant kite that Gwon jumped onto with Namsoyoo.

After the attack was over, Dochun read Namsoyoo’s letter. It was from Bumbak about the information she gave to the Blackram was helpful in their attack plans on Bamboo Village. Dochun said a friend of his spotted Jinsoyun and a man in a Hongmoon uniform in the Cinderlands. I promised to tell Dochun if I find her. Poor Dodan was pretty beat up and I actually felt bad for him. He tried to protect his sister, only to be betrayed like that. The final chapter of the Viridian coast ended when I talked to Chengun who told me to speak with a man named Andumo. At that point, I realized I forgot to take notes of what happened and stopped. That and I wasn’t ready to enter the Cinderlands just yet. ^^;;

I made a new character named Alei Zya who is a Jin Warlock. I restarted everything I did before, but I won’t repeat what you guys already know. Instead, I’ll be continuing the next act with her.

See you in the Cinderlands!

Pierrot's Blade & Soul Experience Pt. 4 : New Moves (and outfits)!

Hello! This week’s post is a big one, though probably mostly words and less pictures since I forgot to take screenshots. Also, the first paragraphs will be switching from I/me/my to we/us every now and again. You’ll know why. ^.^

So, after last week’s post, I had a friend over. I let her play a bit with my character to see if she was interested in joining me in the game. She did a few quests for me and also did chapter 13: A  Bridge Too Far Gone. We headed to a new area called Jadestone Village to find a guy named Pundihay. On the way there, we ran into the blind men from Foshi Pyres. Anh and Sim. They said their friend Nabonsa was taken away by demons, so we had to defeat them. The demons were really just some rams wandering the pathway to Jadestone Village, but we went to clear them out anyway. We found some journal pages and gave them to the blind men and headed down to the village. We found Nabonsa there very much alive and eventually went to find Pundihay. He wasn’t hard to find since he was in the tavern.  He told us Jinsoyun went south to Songshu Isle, but the bride was gone. He said the way to get across was by Dragon Pulse, but we didn’t know what that was. He told us to find Old Man Cho so he could teach us. It wasn’t very hard to find, but we wanted to explore a bit. Outside the tavern, we met an old guy who pretty much told us how to run across the water. It’s like the best thing ever, except you burn energy and will fall into the water if you run out.

We made it to Old Man Cho’s place, but he didn’t seem like he wanted to take us until he noticed the Black Rose mark Jinsoyun left on me. He pretty much made me carry water and find wood for him to make sure I wouldn’t die when he teaches me how to ride the Dragon Pulses. Unfortunately, he didn’t teach me because of my chi being blocked. Instead, he told me to find the Eight Masters to help me unblock it, but he needed me to get him some alcohol from the Lakeside Cache first.

Chapter 14: Drinking Problems sounded easy enough, but the system told us we couldn’t go into that area without another player. Since we were only using my character at the time, we decided to go back to Gloomdross forest to train with Hajoon. It was going well until we had to leave the game because of server maintenance. Thankfully, there was an announcement about half an hour before to give us time to finish our lesson. We ended there for the night.

On Sunday, my friend was over again, but this time she was starting out with her own character. I decided I would help her out, but it turns out I can’t follow her in her storyline for some reason. Since we haven’t really figured out all the controls and options, that’s probably why. My poor laptop can’t really handle Blade and Soul, so I kept getting disconnected from the server whenever I would try to follow her into certain areas. Thankfully, she really didn’t need me and made it to Chapter 10 already. ^.^

I went back online Monday night and decided to explore Jadestone and do some quests. I only went on for an hour or so, but I ended up doing a quest where I had to take a flyer to someone in a random shack on the pond. I didn't know what it was for, but went anyway. I'm not going to lie, I was surprised to see Blackram pirates and a Bamboo Guard all in the same room without killing each other. I had to talk to the captain who gave me the Blackram pirate uniform, but only if I beat up the Bamboo Guard. As much as I like the guard, I couldn't pass up a free outfit. After hitting the poor guard a few times, the captain told me to stop since I was tough enough to join them. I became a pirate and I’m still part of the Bamboo Guard! ^.~

My new Blackram ourfit

I stopped there since I was tired, but. I was off yesterday and figured I would spend the day playing. I went back to Gloomdross since I still had things to do there, like train with Hajoon in the Dreamdrift and the Goldleaf Foundry. I learned some useful moves, but...Hajoon.

Hajoon had a black rose mark and was dying. Every time we would meet for practice, he would look worse. The Goldleaf Foundry was our last lesson before he faded away. I didn't like him much at first, but he grew on me with the lessons. I went to pay respects to him in Jadestone village and found out he left me a note. It told me where to find a gift from Hajoon which was his journal and the Masked Hongmoon uniform. I was happy about a new outfit, but sad that a friend of my character had died.

After I finished being sad, I decided to take on Chapter 14 on my own. It was a bit difficult getting past the froggy creatures, but once I defeated them, I went and beat up Old Man Cho’s student since he was drinking the alcohol hidden in that cave. There was another room where I had to defeat a giant scorpion which was some guy’s pet. I tried to take it on, but that is most likely going to take another person to help me. I died twice trying to kill it.

Anyway, I started Chapter 15: Grin and Bear It immediately after leaving the Lakeside Cache which was pretty much me killing some bears and giving Old Man Cho the meat in Croaker Lagoon so he could eat it with his drink. There wasn't much else to that, so moving onto the next chapter was easy.

Chapter 16 had me going into the Cave of Mastery with Hansu, the leader of the Cerulean Order. He said he would lead me through, but only took me up to a wall of fire which he put out and told me to continue on by myself to find the eight masters. I pretty much had to fight training dummies. When I made it to the end. I fell through the floor and into a room where the eight masters were meeting. Unsurprisingly, most of them didn't believe I was the one from a prophecy master Madun had. When I completed that chapter, Old Man Cho FINALLY told me I could use the Dragon Pulses to get around. They seriously make things so much easier. The animation for the pulse-riding is pretty awesome, too. Dragon Pulses are definitely the way to travel.

In Chapter 17, I was tested again by the masters. Since I’m a Blade Master, I had to speak to Gunma the Starblade before meeting with Hansu of the Cerulean Order again This time he attacked me and then stopped so he could lead me to the Gate of Heaven. He cleared the wall away and left me there to fight more dummies. They were tougher than the last ones, but still easy. I made it out expecting to be done, but I ended up meeting Sansu, leader of the Crimson Legion, which I joined when I first started. He also fought me a bit but stopped to lead me to the Gate of Hell. He cleared a wall of air or smoke and then wind strides away just like Hansu did. I really wasn't shocked to find out I was going to be fighting more dummies again, but I was getting a bit annoyed with it.  Once I made it out of there, I talked to Gunma who said there's nothing more the masters can do for me but I can now improve my moves in my Martial Tome. The chapter ended after Old Man Cho explained how to use the Martial Tome since I’m lost on how to use it.   I also got a new outfit, though it’s not my favorite.

Chapter 18: Shroom to Grow was simple. Old man cho said me to go see someone by a hut for some medicine to help me get better from Jinsoyun’s attack on me earlier. The medicine man said he was going to give me some poisonous mushrooms, but since he didn't have enough, I had to get some. After eating them, it was pretty much done.Another easy chapter, but the next one? The medicine man said a letter came from someone in Jadestone Village who knew me and that it was urgent that I return. I really couldn’t think of anyone who knew me in the village except Old Man Cho, but I figured he would be somewhere in  the Croaker Lagoon  or Cave of Mastery area where I last saw him. I really wanted to explore the new area since I can now ride Dragon Pulses, but I figured I should see what’s going on in Jadestone. I know i could have completely ignored it, but I was curious to find out who the letter was from, so I started Chapter 19.

When I reached Jadestone Village, I found it being taken over by revenants and jiangshi. I went after a few, but about three came at me at once and killed me. I reappeared around the area I came from, but I decided to just run around the enemies and straight to where the story mark was telling me to go. I found out it was Pundihay who sent me the letter. Of course, he had me take on the revenants and jiangshi, but after I did that and returned I found out the worst news. Nekuro IS NOT DEAD!!! In case you don’t remember, Nekuro is the undead necromancer guy that was causing trouble in the Defiled Tomb in Moonshade Cemetery.  Pundihay told me to explore the Plague Hollow for a sign of Nekuro. I already knew I would have to go after him, so I wasn’t really looking forward to it. Thankfully, when I reached him, a member of the Bamboo Guard came in and helped me out. By that, I mean I let him weaken Nekuro so I could finish him off. It worked, so when I made it out of the Hollow, the village was back to normal. I wasn’t very happy with having to fight Nekuro again, so I just went back to where I was with the medicine man. There were a bunch of dragon pulses near that area, so I decided to see where they took me. I didn’t find anything interesting, but I still had fun.

Although I made it through chapter 20, I decided to wait for next week’s post to write about it. This week’s is already long enough.  I'll leave this while you wait. ^.~

Until next time~

Bamboo Guard, Pierrot!

Pierrot's Blade & Soul Experience Pt.3 : I'm Back!

My Blade & Soul adventures are back! I've been a bit busy with life, so finding time and motivation to play again or post was difficult. That's not what today's post is about, though! I've got good news. Really good news...I beat that strong guy who was difficult for me in Chapter 8: Pirates and Thieves and moved on all the way to chapter 13! There's also a new startup logo which looks pretty cool.

I was hoping I was done with the Everdusk area, but Chapter 9: Caught Off Guard was deeper into the Everdusk than where I was before. Not by much, but a little. The enemies were stronger of course, but for once, I didn't die during the chapter! That's really a major accomplishment for me since dying in-game is easy for me to do. This Chapter was pretty much similar to the last one, though I felt it was easier. After completing it, I decided to do the side quests. I figured it would help me level up as well as earn items and money. One quest I didn't like was called Say No to the Dress. The reason why is because I pretty much had to replay the chapter all over again just for a dress that I don't get to keep or even see. -__-;

I had some difficulty with the quest called The Source of the Bloody Jiangshi. I was wondering what was in the Defiled Tomb, so I was all for it. Plus, the reward was a new outfit so I couldn't refuse. It seemed easy and I figured being at level 9 was fine since I was successful with passing Chapter 9 twice. I learned after that Nekuro was NOT easy to kill, but he will kill me easily. I thought maybe I needed to be at 100% health before attacking, so I tried that...he still killed me.  I had stopped playing at that time because it was late, but that last time lasted weeks instead of days.

Fast-forward to last night, I decided to start Chapter 10: Anchor's Away! instead of picking up where I left off. I headed into the Blackram South Anchor hoping to continue the story, but it didn't work that way. I ended up being killed by four enemies at one time..I escaped and restored my health, but  when I tried again, they killed me. I ended up going back to Everdusk and decided to go hunt bears or any enemy I came across to level up.

Eventually, I made it to 10 and realized I still had to beat Nekuro. I figured it would help make me stronger, so I headed back to the Defiled Tomb. This time, I was able to get him! He dropped a lot of good stuff, so I think it was worth it. I headed back to the Foshi Pyres to let the guy who gave me the quest know and got my new outfit. I was going to go with the red and black version of the outfit, but this one looked better.

Once I changed clothes, I went out to do other quests in the Everdusk and Bamboo Village to help with leveling before I attempted chapter 10 again. I learned that I could make my weapons stronger by combining items or adding stones which was very helpful. I also found out how to make faces or reactions as well as hide all the things on the screen like the chat and attack menu bar. I figured it would make my screenshots look better, but I realized that it's not very helpful when you need to know if you're close to dying. ^^;

After all the quests were done, I went back to the South Anchor. All I can say is someone got drugged and there were explosions...oh, and I didn't die! I almost did at the end, but that's only because the guy who was helping me decided he was going to windwalk away and leave me there to fight the guy I drugged who was obviously angry. Thankfully, help arrived from the Bamboo Guard as I was healing and we defeated Wungsam (the guy I drugged).  When I was heading out of South Anchor, there were about four or five characters that were all...fused somehow,

Drugging the bad guys!

Um...what's going on here..?
I was going to stop there, but I was having fun. Since it was my day off, I decided to keep playing and went into Chapter 11: Gone Fishing. It was located in Whalesong Cove which looks terrible. It's all gloomy and there's some dead people of to the side. One guy was still alive, so he tells you what happened to the village. Basically, some evil energy attacked the villagers and turned some into zombie-like beings. I made my way down to attack the 'corrupted villagers' only to find out they still somewhat looked like the normal ones. I ran up to three of them and ended up being chased until some Bamboo Guards killed them for me. I almost died, but got to the point in the chapter where I was supposed to go into the Tainted Grotto to find the Lady in Black who happens to be the person that killed Master Hong. I was pretty cautious when I went in because I already knew she could kill me, but thankfully that didn't happen. She ended up running away when Dochun came in and we made our escape with a flamethrower. Honestly, that was a little weird, but I didn't question it since it was keeping me alive.

When we made it out, Dochun headed to the Gloomdross Forest. That was where the next chapter was going to take place at, so I knew I had to head there eventually. I also got a letter from Brother Hajoon saying he was there, so I already knew I would be going in no matter what. But first, I did some quests of that area in case I needed to do things for them in the forest. When I got into Gloomdross, I noticed some mushroom creature that reminded me of the ones from Maple Story. They didn't attack me, so I left them alone. A little way's into the forest, I came across a man called Chung Unnam. I didn't really get why he was there, so I left and went to the group of Bamboo Guards across from him. One of the people there had a letter for him, so I went over and delivered it. It turns out he's a tailor and makes uniforms for the Bamboo Guard. I ended up getting a uniform from him for free and without much effort.

I continued on to the Tanjay Kilns where Dochun was. I met another person who wanted me to check out corpse in a place called the Dreamdrift and tell Paso of the Char Coalition. I went out of the meeting house and saw there were some quests so I went to see what I could do. since some were in the areas I needed to go to. There was one in the Dreamdrift, so I headed in that direction first. I passed by some cute sprites that weren't really mean unless you attacked them first. I don't recommend doing that, by the way. They are very difficult to kill.

I went into the Dreamdrift and met someone who told me everything in there is made of wood, including the creatures. He then gave me a torch and I was able to light the monsters on fire. I had to do that 15 times before I was able to leave. I also found the corpse only to be attacked by some freaky-looking...thing. It was also flammable, so I torched it. It dropped a badge, so I took that back to Paso who told me it was his brother's. I felt bad, but we changed the subject. I asked about the lady in black whose name is Jinsoyun and he said she was in the North. I went to tell Wonhong, but the guy who made the bombs back in South Harbor and ditched me was with him. He was wanting some kind of powder to make mega bombs, but no one would give him any. You don't even have to play to know where this is going.

He told me to get him some. Unfortunately, I can't refuse if I want to progress the story, so I told him I'd do it...surprisingly, the Char Coalition people were willing to do it. I really wanted them to say no, but they're nice people. That was the end of Chapter 12, and I was surprised to see that I had made it to level 13! I'm really happy with the progress I've made so far, even though I think I'm still in the beginning of the game. Part four will be coming next week!

Miitomo - My New Addiction

Last week, I tried out Miitomo. It was released by Nintendo on March 16th, but I just heard about it through Facebook around two weeks ago from my friends. I decided to see what it was just for fun. It looked harmless...
 It started off with creating my Mii. I love anything with character creations, no matter how simple or complicated it is. The differences with this Mii and the one on the 3DS is that these Miis have QR Codes so you can share your Mii with others and they have voices.
Once that was finished, I was given Miitomo coins and Game Tickets. It was pretty obvious the Miitomo coins were for shopping, but since I was still exploring, I had no idea there was a game called Miitomo Drop until I accidentally tapped one of the Drops. It was a fun little game that reminded me of Plinko from Price is Right, but instead of winning more Miitomo coins, you get candy or a special item of the Drop's Theme, like cats, food, ninjas...things like that.

After I got some nice clothes for my Mii, I started answering questions from my Mii's friends. Some are between two Miis, but most of the questions are shared with all friends. You can send your Mii to a friend's or your friends will just randomly visit you. I had one friend visit about four times in a row.
 My favorite thing on Miitomo is taking pictures with Miifoto. I think I enjoy that more than answering questions, really. There's all kinds of backgrounds and poses to choose from, so it takes time to pick the one I want at that moment and if it looks cool with my outfit. I have at least three that I switch though. You can also add stickers, fonts or frames to the Miifotos or even the Miis of your friends.

See? I love taking pictures of my Mii. This is only a pinch of what I actually have. >.>;;

In my opinion, the only downside is that there's not many questions. I've gone through all of them already. I actually finished answering all of them about two days ago, but I still go on every day for more Miifotos. I really am addicted... ^^;;

Welcome to
The Otaku Reviewers

This blog, "The Otaku Reviewers", was started in February of 2010 on this very same platform, Blogger. At first, it was a venture into the informational and informal world of comics, anime, video games, and Japanese culture. In other words, just a random blog.

Over time, the founder of the blog credited with the pseudonym "RPGhero" was joined by two fellow bloggers and friends with the names "Chansu" and "Deretsun". Together the three bloggers looked up interesting Japanese culture facts, recommended new anime, talked about their own "otaku" interests, and traveled across the United States to various anime conventions.

There have been off periods when the blog ceased production of content and there have been times when there would be dozens of blog posts per week. The schedule varies depending on the lives of the people behind the alias'. However the pattern is that we always get back into the game with even newer information about Japanese culture, anime, video games, and other nerdy hobbies.

The motto of our blog is:
"A cure for your apathy and an inspiration for your dreams. ...Applies to Otaku, anime fans, J-pop junkies, and the like"

The purpose is to blog about cool stuff related solely to anime and otaku stuff. There's no other reason we're doing this.

If you like our blog, please support us in however small a way that you would like. We appreciate our readers!
