Shounen Hero Diaries pt 5: Speculation

That was so long ago, maybe before summer vacation. Those things really make you think. So I trained as hard as I could and entered a battle royal run by a self-proclaimed, "Circus-Villainy Act" that goes by the name, "Dissent". It seemed like some kind of joke and a fun summer wasted. Most of all of the candidates at the arena were either muscular golems or boyish kids my age, all guys.

They sneered at me and leered at me. The boys sneered and the muscle-heads kept looking at me funny like their necks were loose. I waved at them all.

Before the event opened we all had to go into a virtual sim and get our "specs" read. As soon as I put on the thing, I was in a fight with an alien. So I just used the buster whatever that "The Kiran" taught me and it was over... And then I was kicked out of the tournament, by the manager-dude.

"We can't have people here, like you, that can hurt my feelings" The manager said.

He was this really old guy, I think his name was Mr. Rane. But he gave me a copy of my specs data... and cried profusely.

Shonen Hero Diaries pt 2: The Timid Chimera

So, at first, I was scared so I buried the guy on the playground and then turned around to run back home... I sensed that, "The Kiran", could fix everything. As I was turning to run back home, there was this big hand on my shoulder.

"I'll handle that!"

There was an old guy with a blonde mustache and a crew cut who seemed to pop out of nowhere.

"But wait, punch my arm!", The man exclaimed.

So, without thinking I punched his fist, right on the knuckles, and a bright orange light appeared at impact, knocking the man into a slide. That ended up turning the whole thing into dust. I had to run over to him to see if he was OK. He was lying on his back.

"Give.. me a.. high five" The guy said.

So I bent down and I high fived him. He smiled at me happily.

"Go find, the Timid Chimera" He whispered.

"Who?"

"..." The man was silent, he passed out because his head tilted over and touched the ground softly.

...And there was an eerie silence, unlike any other.

I was alone again.

Ah! My Goddess!

So, I'm watching an anime called "Ah! My Goddess!" My Goddess is about a down on his luck college student, Keichi, who one day picks up the phone and hears that he's qualified for help from the "Goddess Help Line". A beautiful goddess named Belldandy appears before him and tells him that she can grant any of his wishes. Perplexed and overwhelmed, Keichi blurts out that he wishes she would stay with him forever. The rest of the anime is the wish granted! But read on for more review!

Winter Season Anime Recommendation

First of all, this is an anime recommendation of a new winter season anime. So I can't give you guys any more spoilers than what's in the first episode and I can't review it because it's not finished. The best way to watch new anime though is to go to www.crunchyroll.com where you can watch new anime just as long as you watch small commercials too.

This anime is one of the best of the new season, if you're looking for a slice of life, school days, slight fantasy, love story. We know the type, there's Clannad, Toradora, Angel Beats, etc. This one seems more like Clannad to me though.

The main character is a girl named Kotoura who was born with the ability to hear what other people are thinking. She also has a bad habit of blurting out whatever she learns about another person. The combination of her ability and bad habit have made her into a social outcast. Her family had even disowned her, with the exception of her grandpa who she lives with.

 That's until she heard the wrong guys thoughts. Actually, she was able to see what he was thinking about her. The picture above is actually one of Manabe's thoughts. Manabe is his name.

 Though surprised by his perverted thoughts, she was shocked that he had no feelings of prejudice or hate toward her. In fact most of his nonperverted thoughts are really positive and happy.

 Can they really get along with each other? Will they fall in love?

Watch Kotoura-san to find out! I highly recommend it as a new winter season anime!

The Unusual Tales of Friendship: Nakama no Suto ri

How'd you meet your best friend? How did you meet your closest friends? Did you make a friend application and fill it out with your info? Nah, I don't think people do that to make friends. Most of our friends, we met by random coincidence and/or chance(s). 

All it takes is to take a chance on someone to be their friend.

A weak person usually has less friends right? 

*Face-palm*

That's not true. 

A person has friends like themselves. And no one is truly weak.

What about anime? Well I learned from anime that friendship takes more of a chance than in real life, if the storylines were real life. I know you've all thought, what if anime was real? But I guess some of us want it to be... 

That's not the point. 

Like in One Piece, remember Zoro? 

Luffy had to practically beg him and vow to him that he'd help him escape just for him to consider joining his no-pirate-yet crew. But Luffy didn't lose hope... I hope that's not a spoiler, if it is you should really watch One Piece at some time in the future.

After that it seemed easier for Luffy to make Nakama/friends. Luffy passed the "first step" that they say is the hardest or most difficult. After that Luffy was way more confident in being himself and being a pirate! But his journey is still continuing, as the anime is still running and the manga is still being printed. 

Ok, enough One Piece...!

Then on the brighter, lighter side of life (slice of life/drama) anime you've got Ouran Host Club. 

Haruhi was a new student and she was pretty much all alone at her new school. Those are the hardest days for everyone, the first day of school. She made a mistake and suddenly she found herself with new "friends" at the school's male host club. It took her a long time to actually be friends with everone there which is part of why the anime is so good! It's a good watch for sentimental people and anyone who hasn't seen it before.

I think I'll stop with the examples, you're all seasoned Otaku, right? Sometimes it just seems difficult making a new friend in the real world but anime makes it seem possible. It's possible for anyone!

How far is too far? Otaku obsession

Are otaku obsessions are always taking things alittle too far?

You all remember when an otaku in Japan married virtual life game character, Nene Anegasaki. He was in his tuxedo and I guess Nene was in her DS world in a wedding dress...

Otaku have married character pillows before also. Yes they married an extra long pillow with a picture of a character girl on it. If I did that, I would be jealous of the man who married Ms. Anegasaki, at least she can be interacted with through the DS. He can probably also beg the video game company to include more features and emotions.

The question is, are these obsessions and love stories taking things too far?

I don't know. While regular people dream about their boyfriends or girlfriends I had dreams about Taiga Aisaka from Toradora and Kagome from Inuyasha. Actual dreams occuring at night where I was their boyfriend. Obviously Inuyasha and Ryuuji would kick my ass if they found out. If I can have infatuation dreams about those anime girls then maybe otaku obsessions are not so bad.

But it would be a little better for me to find a girl like Taiga or Kagome and not go out with a character pillow just yet... However since "ask and tell" has been repealed I would be able to share some hot love stories if I go into the army. ^^ (lol)

Clannad :::Anime Recommendation:::

Hello fellow bloggers! Interesting... how it took me this long to recommend my FAVORITE anime: Clannad! yay! :)

We all know what school is like: There are different personalities here and there, fun and funny moments we can never forget, as well as relationships that last forever. Clannad is a masterpiece by Key, filled with almost an infinite amount of heart-warming and amazing KMM (especially in the second season). But it's not as normal as you think. Created by the famous Jun Maeda (the co-founder), who I have the deepest respect for, it's filled with psychological moments that will leave you in awe, in tears, and on your knees.

The first season of Clannad is basically like a normal life of an average teenager at school who plans to waste his days living day to day poorly, skipping classes, and just not making the best of what's in front of him. After he meets Nagisa, he realizes his life isn't as dull as he once thought, and he begins to open up to the possibilities.

The second season (although I can't give you too much detail) blew me away. The first season built up to the second season perfectly and Clannad After Story remains to be one of the highest ranked animes on MyAnimeList.net (currently #5).

Very slight spoiler (nothing too drastic):

Clannad After Story has been the first anime I've seen that takes you from high school to graduation and then after that! (Hence why it's called "After Story"...)

So it may seem like a normal school anime but... What if... What if there was a parallel universe that... *ahem* Sorry, almost spilled some important details =P. If you wanted to know what I was going to say, you're going to have to watch Clannad to find out! ^^

It is truly touching and I hope everyone has the chance to see the anime that has literally changed my life. It has so much slice of life that it changed my outlook on many things and Kyoto Animation (KyoAni) does such a great job of character design that it's both pleasing to look at the wonderful art as well as watch the story unfold before your eyes to truly define what a masterpiece is. Keep in mind that the title of "My Favorite Anime" does not come lightly. It battled with others on my list until it climbed to the top =P. I felt really vulnerable while watching it because it made me cry a few times... and I don't cry! It wasn't a "I can hold it back" moment. I literally found tears in my eyes (although I wiped them away quickly before they started to climb down my face) and was in awe of the wonderful story portrayed. I liked everything about it--and I hope you do too!

So what are you waiting for? Go watch Clannad! ^^
