:::Fall Season 2010::: Recommendations

Hey everyone! I'm sure you guys don't want to get left behind this season without knowing what to watch, so I have some quick recommendations for you based on what I've seen in the first few episodes and what looks promising.

(Note: May include 1st episode spoilers)

First off is Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (The World God Only Knows) which is about a guy who's a master at dating sims games and can conquer any 2D girl... but how well does he fair in real life? Well, he hasn't tried...

But when suddenly he accepts a challenge a "demon" girl who looks more like an angel flys down from the sky and tells him that he needs to free the loose demon souls trapped in some girls' hearts by making the girl create a space for him in their heart so the demon has no where to go.

Unique right? It has a very refreshing feel and the production and music is very nice. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a comedy romance. I would say it gives me a sort of Angel Beats vibe, so if you liked it you may like this as well.

Next up is Shinryaku! Ika Musume (Invasion! Squid Girl) which is about a squid girl who is enraged with mankind for polluting the water. She surfaces with her super powered tentacle-hair and attempts to take over the world. Little does she know that mankind is more than 1000 people ^^.

Join Ika Musume in this hilarious comedy/slice of life!

It's sure to warm your spirits :)

Next up is something I was skeptical about at first: Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai (My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute). At first I thought it might be very ecchi+ but then I found out it was a lot more comfortable to watch than I thought and no ecchi-ness at all. I was glad it was just a tease and much more pure than it seems =P. If you're wondering why I started watching it anyway it's because I looked up the ratings and it seemed safe--but I wasn't sure if I could trust it--but now I'm sure I can ^^.

What's it like?
This anime gives me a sort of Minami-Ke / Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu feel in that it has spontaneous comical moments with a fun and happy production style and she has a secret from her family: that she's an otaku tsundere. If you're a fan of comedy and secrecy-based-suspense animes you'll definitely enjoy this one =P

Yet another recommendation (yes, this season looks promising =P) is Bakuman! The first episode really caught my attention and now I'm hooked o.O... And although I haven't read the manga like a few of my friends, I can tell that it's going to be great.

So this anime is about two guys who are going to follow their dreams to become manga-ka despite what society has to say about them. They're going to push away the negativity and look forward to their goals. What makes this anime more interesting is that the girl the main character, Mashiro Moritaka, had a crush on agreed to marry him if their manga turns into an anime. What more motivation could you ask for? =P.

Join Mashiro and his friend, Takagi, on the journey to their dreams! :)

And as a final recommendation, I introduce MM!

This is about a hilarious comedy of a seriously masochistic guy who's trying to cure this condition so that when he confesses to the girl he likes she won't look at him like a freak.

He asks a club called the "Second Volunteer Club" for help, who aim to grant any wish or help solve any problem to their guests.

The funny part is that everyone thinks he's a pervert because he keeps asking other people to hit him more and as they do he gets turned on even more and it goes in this vicious cycle that's very humorous =P.

So will his condition be cured by lethal force? You'll have to watch MM! to find out =P.

So that's my fall season recommendations, I hope you guys check these out and decide to keep up this season because it's going to be great! :)

Well that's all for today! If something changes (such as the ratings) I'll be updating this post, so check back! :)

ConnectiCon 2010

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I was away with my cousins in Connecticut! I just so happened to go during the ConnectiCon weekend which was the first video-game/anime convention I ever went to! So without further ado, here's the review!

So when we arrived at ConnectiCon we went straight to the video game section before they closed it 40 minutes after we arrived. We had to drop off our bags which was a pain and I don't know why they made us do that pointless exercise since it took us about 40 minutes of standing in line to get our bags back. Anyway my cousin and I were beating everyone in our respective games (I was playing both Chansu and my favorite: Super Smash Brothers Brawl while my cousin was playing Halo 3). We had missed the tournaments that took place the day before but we still had lots of fun.

As we were walking around we saw some incredible cosplays. Here's some of the amazing ones we've seen from Super Smash Brothers Brawl:

. . . . . . . . . . Sheik and Ike . . . . . . . and . . . . . . . . . Link and Zelda . . . . . . . .

More awesome cosplays here:
. . . . . . . .Inuyasha - Kagome . . . . . . and . . . . . . Assassin's Creed - ? . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Code Geass - C.C. and Lelouch / Zero . . . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . Naruto - ? vs Sasuke . . . . . and . . . . . Other Naruto Members . . . . . .

. . . . . . . Dragon Ball Z - Goku . . . . . and . . . . . Naruto - Kakashi Sensei . . . . .

. . Bleach - 9th Division Captain Kaname Tousen . . and . . Bleach - "Nel" . . . . . . .

(After you check out all these cosplays, let's give an award to the best cosplayers! Leave your opinion on who deserves the award in the comments! If you don't know who they are just describe them. Oh and if you know the missing information marked by "?" please leave a comment and let us know! Thanks! ^^)

Then later on we went to the venders which kinda shocked me into another world. They had everything! From discounted to discontinued manga, doujinshi to figurines, weapons to cosplay outfits, vocaloids, souvenirs, and even t-shirts! Unlike my little event at California's Little Tokyo, I wasn't overwhelmed since I was prepared for this. I tried not to spend all my money so I only spent around $30-$50. It was a lot of fun, and my favorite part of the convention. Here are some pictures of one of the figurine stores:

It was very tempting to buy everything off the shelf since they had a bunch of vocaloid, lucky star, clannad, fullmetal alchemist, one piece, and other figurines I can't remember.

Towards the end we walked around and figured out that there was an upstairs but that we came too late for the closing ceremonies in the auditorium. Next to that however was a board game room.

They played all sorts of games that I've never seen or heard of before.

As we were walking back downstairs getting ready to leave I stopped dead in my tracks because there was a huge mass of people circled up in what I call the "Cosplay Circle."

I took a little video when they started chanting. You can watch it here:

I didn't know what it was at first, but thanks to razicasar on youtube for this updated info:
"They're shouting Pirates and Ninjas. Whoever supports Pirates shouts that, then Ninjas, back and forth. They did a bunch of them, like Pokemon/Digimon. ^_^"
I had a lot of fun and if you go to an anime convention like this one, I'm sure you will too! So if you ever get a chance to visit ANY anime convention, don't miss out!

That's all for now, thanks for reading! ^^

Welcome to
The Otaku Reviewers

This blog, "The Otaku Reviewers", was started in February of 2010 on this very same platform, Blogger. At first, it was a venture into the informational and informal world of comics, anime, video games, and Japanese culture. In other words, just a random blog.

Over time, the founder of the blog credited with the pseudonym "RPGhero" was joined by two fellow bloggers and friends with the names "Chansu" and "Deretsun". Together the three bloggers looked up interesting Japanese culture facts, recommended new anime, talked about their own "otaku" interests, and traveled across the United States to various anime conventions.

There have been off periods when the blog ceased production of content and there have been times when there would be dozens of blog posts per week. The schedule varies depending on the lives of the people behind the alias'. However the pattern is that we always get back into the game with even newer information about Japanese culture, anime, video games, and other nerdy hobbies.

The motto of our blog is:
"A cure for your apathy and an inspiration for your dreams. ...Applies to Otaku, anime fans, J-pop junkies, and the like"

The purpose is to blog about cool stuff related solely to anime and otaku stuff. There's no other reason we're doing this.

If you like our blog, please support us in however small a way that you would like. We appreciate our readers!
