Gintama's Gender-Switch Arc Comes at a Conspicuous Time...

The new Gintama anime (Gintama 2015) has only been up for a few weeks now and it's already getting back into supplying everyone with unbiased laughs and action, with its usual political twist. Usually the anime makes various references to classic anime like Doraemon or Bleach. Then there's all the refs to Japanese stars and politicians. But Gintama cannot and will not stop there! They're looking at America's politics, sometimes...

In one of the newest arcs, all (well most) of the main characters had their genders switched by a group of "amanto" (aliens) that want to test the character's will to be their own gender.

Gintoki became a shorter and seemingly attractive twenty-something, girl.

And then the girls changed genders too and were more menacing and ruthless than the guys!

Tsukuyo's character actually became a lot like Gintoki, but less pretentious and more playboyish as a man. Is he/she new toughest character?

Sogo Okita and Isao Kondou became attractive chicks, despite being weird for men.

I will not spoil the arc by talking about all of the details and you can watch it for free on Crunchyroll.com. But by the end of the three episode arc, Gintoki will once again say something that will change your perspective on gender and make you feel better, as his character always does.

And whenever you want to laugh or smile, just think about Kagura's male form XD
(Don't ask how she got really old!)

How far is too far? Otaku obsession

Are otaku obsessions are always taking things alittle too far?

Otaku and his newlywed ^^

You all remember when an otaku in Japan married virtual life game character, Nene Anegasaki. He was in his tuxedo and I guess Nene was in her DS world in a wedding dress...

Otaku have married character pillows before also. Yes they married an extra long pillow with a picture of a character girl on it. If I did that, I would be jealous of the man who married Ms. Anegasaki, at least she can be interacted with through the DS. He can probably also beg the video game company to include more features and emotions.

The question is, are these obsessions and love stories taking things too far?

I don't know. While regular people dream about their boyfriends or girlfriends I had dreams about Taiga Aisaka from Toradora and Kagome from Inuyasha. Actual dreams occuring at night where I was their boyfriend. Obviously Inuyasha and Ryuuji would kick my ass if they found out. If I can have infatuation dreams about those anime girls then maybe otaku obsessions are not so bad.

But it would be a little better for me to find a girl like Taiga or Kagome and not go out with a character pillow just yet... However since "ask and tell" has been repealed I would be able to share some hot love stories if I go into the army. ^^ (lol)

Welcome to
The Otaku Reviewers

This blog, "The Otaku Reviewers", was started in February of 2010 on this very same platform, Blogger. At first, it was a venture into the informational and informal world of comics, anime, video games, and Japanese culture. In other words, just a random blog.

Over time, the founder of the blog credited with the pseudonym "RPGhero" was joined by two fellow bloggers and friends with the names "Chansu" and "Deretsun". Together the three bloggers looked up interesting Japanese culture facts, recommended new anime, talked about their own "otaku" interests, and traveled across the United States to various anime conventions.

There have been off periods when the blog ceased production of content and there have been times when there would be dozens of blog posts per week. The schedule varies depending on the lives of the people behind the alias'. However the pattern is that we always get back into the game with even newer information about Japanese culture, anime, video games, and other nerdy hobbies.

The motto of our blog is:
"A cure for your apathy and an inspiration for your dreams. ...Applies to Otaku, anime fans, J-pop junkies, and the like"

The purpose is to blog about cool stuff related solely to anime and otaku stuff. There's no other reason we're doing this.

If you like our blog, please support us in however small a way that you would like. We appreciate our readers!
