Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic screening (Dubbed)

When Funimation announced special screenings of Book of the Atlantic, a Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) movie, I wasn't interested at first. A few weeks before the screening, I figured why not? 

We got tickets to see the dub as it was showing on my usual day off and got to the theater early so we could get good seats. There were cosplayers and fans of all ages, though most seemed to be teenage girls. 

The movie itself was pretty good. Undertaker has a pretty big role in it which is awesome as he's my favorite character, plus his face is shown a lot. Best scene by far is Grell and new reaper Ronald re-enact that one scene from Titanic. To be honest, this is pretty much what the movie is...

Black Butler + Titanic + Zombies = Book of the Atlantic. 

Only thing I wish I had done before watching this movie was to watch Book of Circus as there's a character or three from that arc. 

I think the most surprising part about it was Lizzy. I always thought she was annoying and couldn't do anything for herself, but her true character was revealed. She isn't as helpless as she lets on in the first season and ends up being a one of the best fighters in the whole series.

I didn't really think anything of it before the movie, but...if their was any type of fanservice scenes or something slightly funny, the auditorium would be full of screams that only fangirls (and boys) could make. I'm pretty sure the people walking down the theater hall and in the auditoriums next door thought the viewers were either really scared or being killed. Unfortunately, due to the screams, we missed a good third of the movie's dialogue. 

The audience for Book of the Atlantic seemed more immature than the crowds who showed up for the Evangelion 3.0 movie, Yu-Gi-Oh Dark Side of Dimensions and DBZ Resurrection F showings COMBINED. 

It's okay to be a fangirl/boy, but when going to screenings like these, please be considerate of the movies showing next door and to the chaperones who have no idea what they are getting themselves into. It's alright to scream, but not so loud or long that the person 10 rows behind can't hear anything for the next 3 minutes.

I'd rewatch Book of the Atlantic, but in a quieter setting...and to see Undertaker's and Lizzy's amazing scenes again.

Makes me want to not support Cartoon Network but c'mon if you were one of these guys would you bash your fans (referring to the last video)?
UPDATE:  What if RPGhero was a Sweaty Glomper man? I'd still want to hug Luci Christian. But what if she made a song about corny blogger men, I'd feel bad but I wouldn't deny that I am a blogger! Just like fangirls should never deny that they're fangirls, the backbone of American otakudom.

Want to enlist the services of a Taoist master?

Look no further than One Piece!

For those of us who already watch One Piece almost religiously, this is the perfect opportunity for you to become a skilled adept in Taoism.

The captain of the Strawhat Pirates is himself a grand master of Taoism.
Taoism involves a few basic traits in a master:
Tao: Tao is spontaneous, indescribable, and natural. It is the harmonious flow of the universe.
Te: Is power, virtue, and integrity. It is the way Tao can be performed.
Wu wei: This is akin to being like water, yielding and and soft yet it can carve stone. It is said that one should not impose their will against the universe.
Pu: Translated to uncarved block. It symbolizes the potential one has. It also refers to perception without prejudice.

Luffy exemplifies all of these in the way he acts toward others and toward his goals.
We already know Luffy is the MASTER so I'll try to cover what a  would try to call him out on.

1. He may eat way too much but he doesn't really have any real vices, like a temper or an addiction to power. He also spars with whales in his spare time so he needs the energy.

2. He always wants to fight, he never tries to talk things out, one might say. But if you think about it, in his world power is the only answer, alot like ours. Luffy has what it takes to fight for what's right so he does not back down. Powerful use of Te. Also Luffy never starts an unnecessary fight unless he's just playing. 

3. He's got a one-sided goal the average hater would say. But Luffy never said what he was gonna do with One Piece or as the King of Pirates. He just knows that the Pirate King would have "the most freedom on the seas".

It's ok if we can't be as perfect as Luffy, just being in his crew can increase your tao. All of his crew at least signifies Te, just look at their determination. Even Usopp grew in his determination. But for those of us not in his crew just do your homework!

Here's your homework. Go watch a lesson from the master himself, Eiichiro Oda, I mean Luffy! Take some notes and apply it to your life!
