Goku and Luffy: Two Peas in a Pod

Goku and Luffy are very similar, not in appearance... but in mind and soul.

Whenever people try to figure out their personality they think they're both either ESFP or ENFP, remember my last post?

That's interesting. The only unsure part is the Sensate or Intuition of these characters. Do they rush into extremely dangerous situations hoping to get through on Intuition alone or by taking everything one move/fight at a time (for Sensate types)?

Personally I'd like to rely on my intution, I don't care about taking everything one move or step at a time. I'd rather know everything will either be A OK or know it's not. That framing also helps us think about why people don't know what Goky or Luffy's certain personality type is. Both characters obviously see alot of pain and take alot of pain, so it's difficult to tell.

Well one thing's certain, Eiichiro Oda (One Piece creator) was and is close to Akira Toriyama (Dragonball creator) and he even told Toriyama that he based Luffy off of Goku's resiliance.

Otaku Helping Others! Part Eight!

Today's "Otaku Helping Others" post is about:
Friendly Fighting!!!

I've noticed in anime and manga something that seems alittle bit wierd to me.

"Oh they get along well enough to fight", That's what you usually hear when two main characters and allies get into arguments and fights over who's better or cooler.

You might have wondered that yourself as an anime fan....

What does this mean?

I'll explain through my expert knowledge:
When two main characters usually guys fight and argue, though they're fighting pretty hard they're not fighting for any reason or goal. They might say they want to see who's stronger but they don't want to prove anything in the end. They just enjoy each other's company enough to express it in fighting.

This is different from a rival!!
Two rivals fight because the sole purpose is best each other. That is the ONLY purpose of a rivalry.

Sasuke and Naruto became rivals but their relationship has become different from a rival, in appearances.

What is different from a rival?

An evil fluffer-sucker who just wants to advance some evil goal or evil desire. Keyword: Evil

Well that's a spoiler but here...

Evil fluffer-sucker -------------------------------->

Krillin is one tough man to fight Frieza.
Frieza is evil... That's where Goku comes in and becomes Super Saiyan, blonde hair, high power... But that's not the goal of this post.

Back to my spiel... When two friends fight for no reason or just argue with each other, they have no real goal in it. They're just passing time...

It's harder in real life to tell this and easy at the same time.
If your friends lightheartedly joke with you (about you) or you might have random fights that's not so bad as long as it doesn't progress to RIVALRY or EVIL FLUFFER-SUCKER.

So enjoy the lighthearted jokes and random punches with friends... As long as your returning them!
And not all friends have to fight, if you're properly watching....

This is RPGHero signing out!

Japanese Pop Culture with RPGHERO!!!

Today I will teach you all about Japanese Pop Culture!

Anime and manga in Japan are a mirror to the pop culture of the nation. In other words the themes in anime and manga are some of the same themes the culture embraces.

Today's post is about an original theme.
Momotaro - An exceptionally "genki" child or immature character that is capable of extraordinary feats.
*Genki means full of vitality/energy.

This comes from a Japanese folklore. In summary a childless couple found a peach floating down a river and when they attempted to eat it, a child came out if it!!! The child explained to them that he had been sent from heaven to be their son. Years later the child, Momotaro, left his parents to fight demons, making allies of unlikely people, animals and objects such as a dog, people, cowpie, or millstone depending on the variation of the folk lore.

A "momotaro" character in anime is a character more like the definition, a child that is capable of the impossible. An example of this is Goku from Dragonball.
An interesting note, is that even when Goku grew up for Dragonball Z he still had a child's voice in the original Japanese version of Dragonball Z. I theorize this means that the creators of DBZ wanted to imply that Goku, though grown up, is capable of impossible and extraordinary feats even when compared to adults. And at the same time (as fighting Frieza and Majin Boo) he still retained his childlike views of the world.
The momotaro theme is also apparant in other shows such as Zatch Bell and Astroboy.

Welcome to
The Otaku Reviewers

This blog, "The Otaku Reviewers", was started in February of 2010 on this very same platform, Blogger. At first, it was a venture into the informational and informal world of comics, anime, video games, and Japanese culture. In other words, just a random blog.

Over time, the founder of the blog credited with the pseudonym "RPGhero" was joined by two fellow bloggers and friends with the names "Chansu" and "Deretsun". Together the three bloggers looked up interesting Japanese culture facts, recommended new anime, talked about their own "otaku" interests, and traveled across the United States to various anime conventions.

There have been off periods when the blog ceased production of content and there have been times when there would be dozens of blog posts per week. The schedule varies depending on the lives of the people behind the alias'. However the pattern is that we always get back into the game with even newer information about Japanese culture, anime, video games, and other nerdy hobbies.

The motto of our blog is:
"A cure for your apathy and an inspiration for your dreams. ...Applies to Otaku, anime fans, J-pop junkies, and the like"

The purpose is to blog about cool stuff related solely to anime and otaku stuff. There's no other reason we're doing this.

If you like our blog, please support us in however small a way that you would like. We appreciate our readers!
